Tatiana Kamarskaya (Team Coach, owner)
Tatiana Kamarskaya has over 20 years of highly successful coaching experience in the United States and in the former Soviet Union. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Tatiana was a member of the Ukraine National Team, winner of the National Championship and prize holder of the USSR Acrobatics Championships. Four of her students in the USSR became Masters of Sport, two became International Masters of Sport and one of her students became a bronze medalist at the World Championships in France in 1992. Tatiana has received numerous invitations to teach clinics and choreograph gymnastics routines around the U.S. While on the West Coast, Tatiana conducted gymnastics clinics with Bela Karoli, Arthur Acopian and other successful coaches and gymnasts. Additionally, Tatiana is one of the founders and operators of Exxcel Gymnastics.
Gary Leykin (Team Coach, owner)
With over 20 years of coaching experience, Gary Leykin has a wealth of credentials in the field of gymnastics. His personal gymnastics achievements include being a Champion with the United Team of Belorussia, being a Youth Championship winner of the former USSR, and holder of the Honored Master Sport award (which is the highest level achievable in Soviet athletics). Following 17 years as coach/instructor, while serving as a regional board member of DINAMO in the USSR, Gary coached two students who qualified for membership on the 1986 USSR Olympic team. Upon coming to the United States, he was head coach of Spectrum Gymnastics in Brockton, MA for two years. During these years, he coached one student to qualify for the U.S. Junior National Team. In 1998, Gary opened Exxcel Gymnastics. Since, he has successfully developed one of the best boys’ gymnastics programs in Massachusetts.
Alex Toumilovich (Team Coach)
Alex Toumilovich has achieved the highest level attainable as a gymnast in international men’s gymnastics, while competing for Belorussia. His personal achievements include participation as a Member of the USSR National Team and being a European All-Around Bronze Medalist. He has had equal success as a coach of women’s gymnastics. His accomplishments include coaching three students who earned the coveted “Master of Sports” titles, a silver medal winner in the 1996 World Championships and two national champions. Selected to be an International Gymnastics Judge, his judging experience includes the World Championships in 1994, Pre-Olympic Trials in 1995 and European Championships in 1994, 1996 and 1998. When Exxcel began operating in 1998, Alex was among the first staff members to join us as a team coach. He is an invaluable asset to our coaching staff and has assumed the added responsibility of TOPS Director.
Norayr Sarygsanavel (Boys Team Coach)
Norayr (Norek) was born in the Republic of Armenia. He is a multiple time Armenian Champion in the sport of gymnastics. Norayr has competed in 3 World Championships, 2 European Championships and was a member of the 1996 Olympic Team in Atlanta. Norayr has coached boys and girls competitive gymnastics for over 10 years in the
United States. During these years, he has prepared many Junior Olympic National Champions in both boys and girls gymnastics. While at Exxcel, Norayr will be coaching our Boys Team Program.
Alexandr Komlev (Recreational/Team Coach)
Alexandr’s education and gymnastics career is impressive and reflects an active leadership involvement in all technical aspects of the sport. As a gymnast, he was a competitor for 10 years and a member of the National Team. He also was a National Champion and Kazakh Students Game Champion. Alexandr holds the title of USSR Master of Sports. He possesses extensive experience coaching recreational boys and girl’s gymnastics. Alexandr has coached two World Champions and one Olympic champion. He has also judged National and International competitions.
Melissa McManus (Compulsory & Prep-Opt Team Director/
Summer Camp Director)
Melissa McManus was a competitive gymnast for five years and has approximately 13 years experience as a dancer. Melissa is responsible for the choreography of the Prep-Opt floor routines. She began at Exxcel teaching recreational gymnastics and has gone on to coach and help grow Exxcel’s Prep-Opt Team. Over the past few years, Melissa has coached 2 State, 4 Regional and 1 National Champions.
Andrea Cunningham (Recreational Program Director/Team Coach)
Andrea has been involved in competitive gymnastics for more than 15 years as both an athlete and a coach. She came to Exxcel Gymnastics in the Fall of 2006 after competing for Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY and acting as team captain. While Andrea was at Ithaca, the team won two Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships and was consistently ranked 1st in the country for Division III leading into Nationals. Before college, Andrea competed in USA Gymnastics for Thompson’s Gymnastics in South Hadley, Mass. She is currently Exxcel’s Recreational Director, Vacation Camp Director and Girls Level 4 Team coach.
Kristin Cerrato (Recreational/Team Coach)
As a competitive gymnast of eight years, Kristin Cerrato won two State Championships and competed in regional competitions. Since that time, Kristin has earned a B.S. in Education with an emphasis in elementary education. Kristin began instructing gymnasts at Exxcel in 1999 and has grown to be a highly respected member of our coaching staff.
Kirk Vorona (Recreational/Team Coach)
Kirk has over 25 years of gymnastic experience. His 19 years of personal experience include participation in the European and World Championships. In 1993, he won the championships on rings during the World Cup. His experience also encompasses coaching children in all ages and all levels.
Lee Turley (Recreational Coach)
Lee’s gymnastics experience has enabled him to work with a wide range of athletes. As ayoung gymnast Lee was invited to the TOPS workshops on the East Coast and was invited to train with the USA Junior National Team. Lee has taught recreational gymnastics, tumbling for cheerleaders and has coached competitive teams. Lee has also run the Special Olympics Gymnastics program in the metro Boston area for the past four years.
Inga Smirnova (Recreational/Girls Team Coach)
Inga (Inna) was born in Kazakhstan. She has lived in over 10 countries including the United States. Inna has a master of sport for Artistic gymnastics. Over the years, Inna has coached many girls in various countries to Championships. Inna was a choreographer in her gymnastics school for 10 years. While at Exxcel, Inna will be coaching various levels of our Girls Team Program.
Christine Curran (Preschool Program Director)
Christine has been employed at Exxcel since 2003. She has been teaching preschool gymnastics for over ten years. She formerly coached youth cheerleading and has run and directed many successful cheerleading camps on the South Shore. She has earned her Kinder Accreditation for Teachers (KAT) as well as a certificate in Movement Education Lesson Plan Development (MELPD). Her love and passion for working with children has helped our program to grow and thrive.
Randi Shapiro (Recreational/Team Coach)
Randi Shapiro has over six years coaching experience working with children ages 18 months to 18 years and nine years of personal experience as a recreational and competitive gymnast. Randi is a great addition to the Exxcel Coaching Staff.
Frederic Sontag-Campbell (Climbing Director) Fred was born and raised in Paris, France. He received a degree in Culinary Arts and was a member of the National French Swim Team throughout his high school years. He has worked as a lifeguard and then a certified swim instructor/coach. Once back in the sports arena, he decided to develop one of his other passions - climbing. Fred spent his summers climbing on the French Riviera and he is a certified top rope climbing instructor by the American Mountain Guide Association. Fred loves to teach and share his experiences and enthusiasm for sports with all ages. He has created a climbing team, runs our summer climbing and adventure camp and holds special adult climbing classes.
Carol Stento (Director of Cheerleading)
Carol Stento is currently the Director of Cheerleading at Exxcel Gymnastics, where she runs tumbling and stunting classes for cheerleaders and coaches the Exxcel All-Star Cheer Team. Carol has coached cheerleading for over twenty years. She has been the Program Coordinator for Needham Wellesley Pop Warner’s Cheer Program and Coach of the A Squad for the past 7 years, which has included six consecutive wins as Bay State Conference Champions. Carol has won Coach of the Year for Pop Warner two years in a row. She also currently coaches the Needham High School Dance Team, which includes a 2004 “Just for Kix” National Championship and 2005 National Athletic Championship. Carol was featured in the “Who’s Who” of US Coaches in American Cheerleader in 2004 and 2005.
Jenna Stento (Cheer Coach)
Jenna began cheering in 1994 with Needham-Wellesley Pop Warner and currently coaches the Exxcel All-Star Cheer Team. Jenna has 4 years of coaching experience with Pop Warner including a sweep of Bay State Conference first place titles. Her experience includes being a dance instructor at Paulette’s Ballet Studio and founder of the Exxcel All-Star cheer team. Jenna has 3 years on the Needham High School Dance Team as a team founder and captain. The NHS Dance Team has won the Bay State Conference Title, the 2005 Athletic National Championships, and the 2003 “Just for Kix” National Dance Championship in affiliation with the Outback Bowl in Tampa FL, including pre-bowl and half-time performances. Jenna began dance at age 3 and has taught numerous dance and tumbling classes through the studio/gym and has developed new classes as well. Jenna has participated in the nationally ranked East Elite All-Star Cheer Team, Needham High School Varsity Gymnastics Team, and numerous other community service, academic and leadership activities.
