PRE-TEAM
Pre-Team for girls ages 4-7 meets twice a week for 1 ½ hours. Gymnasts must exhibit good form and execution on basic gymnastics skills to be recommended to pre-team. Practices revolve mostly around TOPS conditioning and flexibility. Students will participate in an Exxcel meet with basic routines.
EXXCEL DYNAMOS
This team for girls ages 8-14 meets twice weekly for 2 hours. Students develop advanced skills and create their own routines. Strength, flexibility and endurance are emphasized. The Dynamos are a strictly noncompetitive team, but will have the opportunity to participate in one local Exxcel Meet. Throughout the year, this team will have an opportunity to perform during different exhibitions.
P.R.E.P Optional (Novice/Intermediate/Advanced)
The Prep Optional Program (Poise, Rhythm, Execution and Presentation) is designed as an alternate program for the optional levels. There are three levels within the Prep Opt program: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. The gymnasts work out 6-9 hours per week on all four Olympic rotations. Girls compete in approximately 8 meets per year held around New England and beyond. Prep Opt gymnasts are given the opportunity to compete nationally as part of the AAU gymnastics program. In order to be chosen for Prep Opt gymnasts must exhibit the talent, flexibility and strength needed to compete optional level routines.
LEVEL 4
Focus on teaching basic core skills in each of the four Olympic events. Children learn to compete with small routines while showing proficiency in each element or skill. When the gymnast successfully completes the necessary skills and routine requirements on each event she may move to the next level.
LEVEL 5-6
These are compulsory levels of competition, consisting of entirely compulsory routines which encourage athletes to practice toward perfection of required skills. Each level builds on the skills of the previous level and is likewise judged with higher expectation. Athletes are arranged in age groups at competitions.
LEVEL 7
This level is the first level of optional competition. Gymnasts perform individual routines. The Federation of International gymnastics produces new optional rules every four years in conjunction with the Olympic games. These guidelines indicate what each optional routine must contain (composition), the score value of each element (difficulty), and how to evaluate its performance (execution) by the individual gymnast.
LEVEL 8-10
These levels continue in difficulty of requirement, and are all optional levels. As with the compulsory levels, the requirements and expectations increase for each level.
HIGH SCHOOL
The high school team meets September-November and again March-June, allowing for high school gymnasts to be able to compete for their High School during the winter seasons. High School gymnasts who wish to continue through the winter can stay and join our prep-optional teams. Our High School team (8th-12th grade) competes Prep-optional.
